About MWWorks
I'm a hobbyist maker based in Suffolk, UK, making bespoke furniture and mixed-media pieces that combine woodworking, CNC fabrication, 3D printing, and electronics.
Most projects begin with an idea sparked by something I've seen, a conversation with a friend, or simply wanting to solve a problem in an interesting way. I (badly) sketch out concepts, (jankily) prototype where needed, and then refine the design and production until it works and looks as intended.
Aesthetic
Whilst I still take on occasional furniture commissions, my current focus has shifted to smaller devices that integrate electronics. These are projects I can complete in a reasonable timeframe and produce in small batches, making them more accessible whilst maintaining the handmade quality.
I'm particularly drawn to projects with vintage computing or retro electronics aesthetics - things with lots of LEDs, physical switches, and wood cases that belong in a 1970s computer lab or hi-fi system. Or, more simply, devices that never were.
Tools & Techniques
My workshop has a mix of hand tools, power tools, and machines for traditional woodworking; alongside a CNC router, 3D printer, and various electronics equipment. Being able to switch between different fabrication methods allows for interesting combinations of materials and techniques.
Build Logs & Sharing
I document many projects with detailed build logs, partly as a record for myself and partly to share the process with others. If you're interested in making something similar, the project pages include photos, descriptions of techniques used, and links to resources that helped along the way.
The maker community has been incredibly helpful over the years, so I try to give back by sharing what I've learned. That said, I'm always behind with getting stuff documented and uploaded - so please get in touch if you want any advice or files!
